Melanie's Mania: Home school Begins!

This year we have decided to try something slightly different. How long it will last, we don't know...
I am attempting to utilize the internet more and found ABCJesusLovesMe.com
This had some great FREE weekly plans...
And of course I will give them a mania twist.

But week one is here:
Age 5 Curriculum Week 1

We are using age 5, because it seemed most appropriate learning wise for Dakota. It is challenging enough and I can always add to it...

Day ONE we did God the Father lessons:

We read our first chapter in our Young Readers Bible - The Beginning

We started with the Bible verse:
This is also written on our portable white board so I can show them what I am reading.

Verse: I John 3:1 - How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!

Then we did the song:

Bible Song: Trinity Song
Tune: "Are you Sleeping?"
God the Father, God the Father
God the Son, God the Son
God the Holy Spirit, God the Holy Spirit
Three in One, Three in One.

Which they mastered by the end of the day....

We then did our Shamrock printable:

We then worked on our Weather Items for the day, I chose clouds...

We discussed that clouds are fluffy and light just like cotton balls. Then we glued the cotton balls onto blue paper...

We then used food coloring an water to make blue paint.
And I drew on the white paper with white crayon, some clouds. I asked the kids if they could see the clouds, they said no and were quite confused. Then I gave them a fluffy cotton ball and showed them how to dip it in the paint and find the clouds. They loved this, and I was not quite prepared for the mess... Oops!

We then sang our song again (see above) while we were painting and we discussed our verse again.

After we washed our hands I was finished with my lesson, but the boys ran back to the table for more! Well who am I to argue! So we worked on some sight word flash cards and some puzzles.

After all that it was time for lunch.

And we ended our school Day one...

Day two:

On Day two we re-read our bible verse, and resang our song.
We read a new chapter in our Young Readers Bible - God created Eve

We began with working on our writing. The first three I's are hand over hand, the rest are Dakota's! Isnt he doing great!

We then worked more on the weather, today being the Sun! We finger painted sun circles between wax paper, then we used Q-Tips to make the sun flares!

We then went out side and did the Put The Fire Out activity. This is an awesome Gross Motor Skill! & was their favorite of the day! After this we played more with water and chalk... then went in for lunch... So ends day 2!
